Solar PV

What is Solar PV (Photovoltaic)

Photovoltaic (PV) panels capture the sun’s energy and convert it into cheap, green electricity from sunlight.  They even work on cloudy days and can cut your carbon footprint, lower your electricity bills and help generate an income by allowing you to sell excess energy back to the grid through the Governments Feed-In Tarrif.

Solar power is one of the most promising sources of energy for the 21st Century and has truly come of age.

The PV cell consists of one or two layers of a semiconducting material, usually silicon. Light shining on the cells creates an electric field across the layers, causing electricity to be generated.

The most effective orientation for Solar PV is facing south. The positioning must also be free from shading, as this greatly reduces the efficiency of the PV array.

Flat roof and ground mounted systems are also possible.

Installation and Design

The design and installation of our systems are carried out by our in house teams and fully meet all MCS requirements.

Planning permission is not normally required, although this should always be confirmed with your Local Authority. Properties in Conservation, areas, and listed buildings will always need planning consents.
